There are a lot of different REALTORS® out there, and it sometimes can be hard to differentiate what kind of REALTOR® would work best for you and your needs.

The best advice I can give is to see what number they give you.

You want a REALTOR® who gives you their cell phone. Not an office number, not an assistant, not the member of their huge team, just their cell phone. You are looking to hire THAT REALTOR®, so you want to make sure that is who you will be communicating with.

You want a REALTOR® who you are working with directly, not their assistant or five person team.

Often times a REALTOR® will send out buyers with a newer agent to let them do all of the driving around with the clients, so as not to waste their time.

Yet, a REALTOR® and buyer have to develop a relationship and do it all together. How can the REALTOR® tell you what a home is worth if they haven’t even seen it?

Another thing that you will run into, is listing agents who have all showings go through a 1-800 service. You never have to “bother” the agent to show it, you just call the service, who knows nothing about the property, and they schedule you.

But that is half the battle of selling a home, a listing agent needs to SELL it to other agents. That means, they have to talk to them about the property.

Some agents won’t give out their cell phone, and you have to call their office to get any information on the property or your offer. One of the biggest problems with that, is that offices usually close around 5pm on weekdays, and some are not open on weekends. Plus, the person that answers the phone, usually knows nothing about the property or your offer.

Real estate is a 7 day per week, 24 hour business. You need an agent that you work with directly, and you can easily reach on their cell phone.
