Everyone loves those real estate shows, where you can look inside beautiful homes.

Those shows rarely seem to show the more “interesting,” real estate settings.

I had a recent one which was so entertaining, I had to share.

I was with some buyers looking in Coral Springs. Our last showing was a pretty 4 bedroom, 2 bath pool home on a canal with a 3 car garage, asking $485,000.

When we arrived at the community gatehouse, we called the owner from the keypad for access. The owner answered, a tad annoyed, saying that he needed five minutes to get ready.

We entered the community, and waited outside until he came out with two little dogs.

We walked towards the entrance, to find the wife outside the front door. She explained that she had birds inside, and she couldn’t get them all in the cage, so we needed to keep the master bedroom door closed.

We walked in to the master bedroom, and saw a cage full of about ten small birds, that looked like Finches.

We then walked into the master bathroom, to see two sitting on a bathroom rod. As soon as they saw us, they were darting around, and we had to keep ducking as they passed.

We left that bedroom, and shut the door behind us. We walked outside to see the pool and water view, only to find another cage with about ten to fifteen more birds.

We were looking at the bedrooms, and as usual, we open closets. We opened one to find a large cage in there. We were trying to figure out what it was for, and then we noticed a sleeping ferret curled up.

And just when we thought we had seen it all, when we were about to leave, I stopped, and pointed… at a 1-2 foot tortoise walking by the side of the wall.

It was as if a Disney princess had grown up, downsized from her castle, and moved into an average sized house, with all of her “friends.”
