Just like anything, there are good REALTORS®, and there are bad REALTORS®.

But my job as a real estate agent, is to get the transaction closed, as best as possible, for my customers.

Quite often, my customers pick up on the fact that the other agent isn’t doing that good a job.

Some agents are hard to get ahold of, even to simply show the property.

I once dealt with an agent that didn’t use email.

I have worked with a number of agents who refuse to answer phone calls, and will only respond via text.

My favorite is, as a listing agent, when I ask what their buyer is approved for, and the agent answers, “I don’t know?”

A REALTOR®’s job is to be the middleman, and we can’t be emotional or have an attitude. Sure, some agents will be better than others, but our job as REALTORS® is to get it done, as painlessly as possible. Sure, I often end up doing some of the other agent’s job. It is not the kind of thing where you whine about it. I need to do whatever needs to be done to get the deal done for my customers. I will drag the other agent through it if I have to.

Calling out or yelling at another agent, won’t solve anything. It will just make the negotiations and transaction process go that much worse.

And, what if you end up showing one of that agent’s properties in the future?

As silly as it sounds, I stand my ground for my customers, but I am always super nice to the other side as I am doing it.

Why? Because I need to get my customers as much as possible in the deal, and I have a better chance of getting that, if the agent likes me.

If you think that REALTOR® who is a “shark,” is really doing that much for you, think again. Sure, they might win a battle or two for you here and there, but if they sour the situation, there is a good chance you will have lost the idea of getting anything else that you ask for moving forward.

You know what else? Agents remember things. If there is a multiple offer situation, you bet that listing agent is going to encourage the seller to work with the agent who is easy to work with.

As a REALTOR®, you have to keep you opinions to yourself, and if you are using a REALTOR® who has a difficult time dealing with other agents, you might want a new agent.
