When people think of South Florida, they think of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, even Hollywood. Yet, most people who live in South Florida barely even know where Dania Beach is, let alone that is the first city in Broward County.
Dania Beach became a city in 1904 and it is located between Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood on the east side of Broward County.
So, what are some things to do in in this great city?
Dania Beach is probably best known for Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant. Jaxson’s is an old fashioned restaurant, filled with antiques, license plates, candy and the best ice cream, that they make themselves It is very common to see a line down the street for their ice cream window!
The next thing this city is known for is Jai Alai. At the Casino at Dania Beach you can watch Jai Alai, eat, gamble or watch entertainment.
The Casino recently redid the entire casino, with restaurants and Stage954, a performance venue with musicians, comedy acts and more.
Conveniently, Dania Beach is right by the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
And if the airport isn’t your preferred method of transportation, you can come to Dania Beach by boat. Harbour Towne Marina is located just south of the Port Everglades Inlet, on the Dania Cutoff Canal.

Probably the main reason people come to Florida is to come to the beach. Dania Beach is right by the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.
As for parks, Dr Von D Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park is off A1A with everything from canoeing, picnics, fishing, snorkeling, and more.
Another great park for visitors to check out is Frost Park, which is a recreational complex in Dania Beach. The park has basketball, tennis, baseball, and more.
